Amazon Kindle 2 Features PDF Support and Longer Battery Life

PDF books are now taking over the demand of regular book formats and Amazon company had to implement this feature in it’s next Kindle version. Kindle 2 now supports PDF books which means that you can read PDF books and PDF documents using Amazon Kindle 2. The other enhancements in Kindle 2 are enhanced and longer battery life, stereo speakers, headphone jack and a slider power/sleep switch.

Automatic Whispernet update (common update platform for Kindle devices) is applicable for all new Kindle devices. With the new enhancements, Kindle is expected to last for at least 7 days with wireless connectivity turned on, approx two times long than the current kindle versions. The most anticipated feature in Kindle 2 will be the support for PDF documents. Now users can read PDF books or PDF documents without converting it to a another format.


Kindle 2 was under six months of intensive power management development and firmware improvement at Amazon lab and this huge change will make it more competitive in the current market with Sony e-reader. [via]
