Change Desktop Wallpapers Automatically with Wallpaper Changer

Posted by Bapun 23 May, 2009

Desktop Wallpaper is what we tend to see first on our computer. There are a lots of wallpapers available on net to customize our desktop background. But keeping the same one wallpaper makes us feel boring after few days. How about changing those wallpapers automatically using a auto wallpaper changer? Auto wallpaper changer will change your desktop backgrounds automatically and you have the flexibility of selecting some wallpapers to get changed and fix the background change period.

One of my favourite told for this is John’s background changer. It’s a freeware, light on system and does the magic instantly. Simply set it’s settings and then leave it to rotate your desktop backgrounds automatically.
Key Features of John’s Background Changer

  1. You can set if you want to use all images from your computer or from a specific folder
  2. Ability to use pictures from Flickr as your wallpaper, you can set specific tags, people and more
  3. Phanfare and Smugmug Albums integration with inbuilt Yahoo! image search
  4. Use images from Facebook as your wallpaper (Choose images from own album or friend’s album)
  5. Use images from any RSS feed and keep them as your wallpaper

I have used this tool but was facing some problem. My system used to hang for some seconds when wallpaper was changed.

@ Gagan : Thanks for the info. Yup, this thing happens if you have chosen to use ant external images like Facebook, Picassa etc. Otherwise it works just fine on my system :)

That’s interesting. I’ve generally attributed brief periods of hanging to display drivers misbehaving at the point JBS changes the background (which is why there’s an option buried in there to prevent it from switching unless the machine’s been idle for a short while). If you’re seeing it when using web-based sources only that’s something I’ll see if I can figure out for the next version.

Of course older machines will tend to struggle if JBS is simultaneously downloading a bunch of pictures from the web – it can be quite a resource hog in that case!

Anway, thanks for the info.
