How to Avoid Slow Boot Time Problems on Networking Computers
Your system will take more booting time if you are on a shared network. Shared network means your computer is connected to a group of computers or is a part of computer networks. It slows down boot time dramatically and your computer behaves abnormally few times. It will take more than 2 minutes (general statistics) to start up and once you get logged into your account, it freezes for a minute or so. You might also see blank screen without any icons for sometime and all this happens as your computer tries to use all it’s resources in building a relationship with the networking computers.
Microsoft’s file and printer sharing program takes much resources since it tries to access other computer’s drives, files and any connected printer. It takes up to 65 seconds (nearly 1 minute) of your booting period and hence you have to wait for a longer period to access your computer. You can improve your slow boot time by disabling file and printer sharing.
How to disable File and Printer sharing on Networking Computers
- Click on Start >> My Network Places >> Right click on it and select Properties
- Right click on Ethernet Adepter Connection and select Properties
- Uncheck the option File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks >> Click on OK >> Click on Apply
- Reboot your computer
- You are done.

Now you can experience a much faster boot time than earlier. If you need to have file and printer sharing in future, follow above steps and check the File and printer sharing option. It will get activated on next system reboot.
