Nokia Ovi Maps is being used on many Nokia phones to help in GPS navigation service. While users were paying for Ovi Maps earlier, it has been made free since January 21st, 2010. Free Ovi Maps is compatible with Nokia X6, Nokia N97 mini, Nokia E72, Nokia E55, Nokia E52, Nokia 6730 classic, Nokia 6710 Navigator, Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic, Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition, Nokia 5230 mobile phones where a user can download and install newest version of Ovi Maps.
While the free version of Ovi Maps has been released for the above said mobile phones, Nokia N97 is an exception. Since Nokia is going to release a new firmware update for Nokia N97 phones, the new version of Ovi Maps for Nokia N97 will be made available from January 28th, 2010. With the release of new N97 firmware, users will get the latest version of Ovi Maps free and integrated, with free turn buy turn navigation. The Ovi Maps for Nokia N97 release has been scheduled with the new firmware release as the latest version of Ovi Maps requires a minimum of 20MB of free storage space on internal memory, that the N97 lacks.
