Nokia Ovi Maps is being used on many Nokia phones to help in GPS navigation service. While users were paying for Ovi Maps earlier, it has been made free since January 21st, 2010. All Ovi Maps application functions are free now which includes turn-by-turn navigation for drive, walk navigation with complete navigation support on more than 70 countries or regions. Free Ovi Maps is compatible with Nokia X6, Nokia N97 mini, Nokia E72, Nokia E55, Nokia E52, Nokia 6730 classic, Nokia 6710 Navigator, Nokia 5800 Xpressmusic, Nokia 5800 Navigation Edition, Nokia 5230 mobile phones where a user can download and install newest version of Ovi Maps.

While the free version of Ovi Maps has been released for the above said mobile phones, Nokia N97 is an exception. Since Nokia is going to release a new firmware update for Nokia N97 phones, the new version of Ovi Maps for Nokia N97 will be made available from January 28th, 2010. With the release of new N97 firmware, users will get the latest version of Ovi Maps free and integrated, with free turn buy turn navigation. The Ovi Maps for Nokia N97 release has been scheduled with the new firmware release as the latest version of Ovi Maps requires a minimum of 20MB of free storage space on internal memory, that the N97 lacks.

The new version of Ovi Maps comes with few improved features such as refined user interface (UI), support for geo-location sharing on Facebook, offline navigation or map browsing where maps can be loaded on to the phone device to navigate with GPS without data connection.

• Navigate to the Ovi Maps download page here >> http://maps.nokia.com/explore-services/ovi-maps/downloads
• Select Nokia N97 mini from the list of devices >> Click on Or download without data change using PC or Mac >> Click Download button
  
  (If you land on the list of Ovi Maps installer page, click the Download button under Nokia N97 mini section – in case of Nokia X6 and Nokia 5230 too)
• Copy the Ovi Maps .sis or .sisx file to Nokia N97
• Install Ovi Maps on your phone from the phone’s File Manager >> Follow screen instructions for step-by-step methods and complete installation of Ovi Maps
• You are done.
