Microsoft has demonstrated several new features, specifications and apps of Windows Phone 7 series at MIX 2010 event. According to Microsoft’s announcement at this event, it will allow developers to download Windows Phone 7 development tools and build several applications on it’s platform. Like iPhone and Android phones, Microsoft wants to engage developers to develop various apps, games, etc Windows Phone 7.
While many Windows phone users are wondering if they will be able to upgrade to Windows Phone 7 for free, Microsoft will launch Windows Phone 7 device in the last quarter of this year or in the first quarter of 2011.

There are also rumors that HTC HD2 might not get Windows Phone 7 upgradation. But according to XDA forums, they have managed to perform a code dump of Windows Phone 7 OS, which means that Windows Phone 7 Series ROM is leaked and is now available for free download.
ll2tp, XDA forum member, has extracted the ROM from the device emulator image. However, it can’t be ported to any devices and works on PCs only.
