For various security purposes Windows Vista has disabled automatic log on to user accounts. However, if you are using the computer solely and does not want to waste your time by entering username and password each time you open your computer, you can make Windows Vista log on automatically. Do note that in this way all, whoever uses your computer will also get access to logon to your user profile automatically, without providing user login details.
Windows Vista Log On Automatically
- Hit Windows key + R to open Run window
- Type netplwiz in the Run box
- Select the user profile you want to activate automatic log on for and uncheck the box saying “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer”
- Click on Apply >> Enter password twice in confirmation dialog window >> Click OK
- You are done.
Restart your computer and now Vista will automatically get you logged in without entering your user profile login details.
Disable Vista Log On Automatically
If you want to disable Windows Vista automatic log on, simply follow the above steps and check the box saying, “Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer” after selecting a user profile.
